General Secretary of CBCUSA

Rev. Dr. Ceu Lian Thang, the General Secretary of CBCUSA, completed his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) at the Myanmar Institute of Theology in 1992. After graduation, he served for two years as a pastor at Lai Baptist Church.

In 1994, he moved to Singapore and attended Bible school for three years. Afterward, he traveled to the United States on a student visa and settled in Los Angeles, where he earned his Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree in 1999.

After completing his studies, he moved to Dallas and volunteered extensively in both church and community ministries. During this time, he also assisted immigrants who entered the United States through the Mexican border and helped newly arrived refugees from Malaysia and Guam with their political asylum applications and resettlement needs. He served in this support role for approximately three years.

Following many years of volunteer service in the Dallas church and community, he was invited by Refugee Services of Texas to work full-time. In 2007, he began serving as an Employment Coordinator. After working at Refugee Services of Texas for about five years, he was selected in 2010 to become the full-time pastor of Texas Chin Baptist Church.

While serving as pastor, he also held leadership roles within the Dallas Chin ministers’ fellowship and served as the CBCUSA Southern Area Secretary from 2015 to 2018.

In July 2022, he was elected to serve as the General Secretary of CBCUSA. He currently resides with his family in Indianapolis, where the CBCUSA headquarters is located.
